How to read a deal on Amazon

• Look for the badge. The pages we opened during the event showed three badge names: “Prime Big Deal”, “Limited time deal” and “Limited Prime deal”. A badge tells you Amazon itself is marking the item as a deal.
• Check the price on the day you buy. Deals run on a clock and the number on the page can move. The time beside each of the two prices here is when we saw it.
• Check the membership. Some deals were for Prime members. A “Prime Big Deal” badge names Prime, so a membership may have been needed, and that is our reading, not Amazon’s wording.
• Check the exact model. Amazon sells one product in many colors and sizes, each with its own page. Any price we show belongs to the listing we opened.
