It won our main search and was a runner-up for long flights: a memory foam neck pillow with a snap closure and a removable cover you can machine wash. - **Long flights:** GDEOUP U-Shape Memory Foam Travel Pillow. It won our long flights search: a U-shaped memory foam pillow made for sleeping upright, with a snap strap that also clips it to a carry-on bag. - **Packing light:** Keemall Inflatable Travel Neck Pillow. It won our inflatable search: a neck pillow that packs down small, with firmness you set by how much air you add and a soft, washable cover. - **A pillow and eye mask in one buy:** Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow with Eye Mask (unbranded), Pink. A runner-up in our long flights search: a velvet-covered, slow-rising memory foam neck pillow that comes with a matching eye mask. Our top pick for most travelers is the **[SAIREIDER Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-travel-pillows/#pick-1)**. It won the main TwelveTabs search we ran for this guide, "best travel pillow", out of 55 Amazon listings, and came second in our search for long flights. It is a memory foam neck pillow with a snap closure that keeps it snug around your neck and a cover you can take off and machine wash. For long-haul flights, the **[GDEOUP U-Shape Memory Foam Travel Pillow](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-travel-pillows/#pick-2)** won our long flights search, and its snap strap also clips it to your carry-on. If you pack light, the **[Keemall Inflatable Travel Neck Pillow](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-travel-pillows/#pick-3)** won our inflatable search. And if you want a pillow and an eye mask in one buy, a pink **memory foam neck pillow that comes with a matching eye mask** was a runner-up for long flights. ## How to choose a travel pillow Wirecutter's travel writers, who test pillows on long flights, list what matters. Here is how it applies to the pillows our searches found. - **Support first.** Experts told Wirecutter that a travel pillow should be firm enough to keep your head up and in line with your spine. Too soft is no good. Memory foam, like our top three foam picks, holds its shape better than a loose fiber fill. - **Think about packing.** Wirecutter wants a pillow that compresses to take up less space, or has a clip so you can hang it from a bag, or both. Our inflatable pick packs down small. Our long flights pick has a strap that clips to a carry-on. - **A washable cover.** Planes are not always clean, as Wirecutter puts it, so look for a pillow you can wash or one with a removable, washable cover. All three of our foam picks have one, and our inflatable pick has a washable cover too. - **Smooth, soft fabric.** The pillow sits against your skin for hours. Plush or velvet covers, like our long flights pick and our eye mask set, are gentle on the neck. - **Mind the headrest.** Wirecutter notes that most travel pillows have a rounded back, which can push your head forward, away from the seat. Its top pick has a flat, angled back for that reason. All of our picks are classic U shapes, so try yours with the seat upright before a long trip. ## Our picks in detail ### 1. SAIREIDER Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow: best for most travelers **Why it made the list** - It won our main search, "best travel pillow", from 55 listings. - It was the runner-up in our search for "travel pillow for long flights", from 52. - It is made of memory foam, with a snap button closure that holds it snugly around your neck. - The cover comes off and goes in the washing machine. **Drawbacks** - Solid memory foam does not squash down the way an inflatable does, so it takes more room in a bag. - It has a rounded back, like most U-shaped pillows, which Wirecutter says can push your head away from the headrest. **Skip it if** your bag has no spare room. Choose the inflatable Keemall instead. ### 2. GDEOUP U-Shape Memory Foam Travel Pillow: best for long flights **Why it made the list** - It won our search for "travel pillow for long flights", from 52 listings, and was runner-up in our main search. - Its listing describes a U-shaped memory foam pillow designed for sleeping upright on long flights. - Its snap strap keeps it in place on your neck and clips it to a carry-on bag between uses. - It has a soft, plush cover that comes off for the washing machine. **Drawbacks** - Like any solid foam pillow, it is bulky to pack. - It is a close twin of our top pick: both are U-shaped memory foam pillows with snap closures. Our two searches simply swapped their order. **Skip it if** you already have a memory foam neck pillow you like. ### 3. Keemall Inflatable Travel Neck Pillow: best for packing light **Why it made the list** - It won our search for "inflatable travel pillow", from 55 listings. - It deflates and packs down small, which suits a small backpack or a tight carry-on. - You set the firmness by how much air you add, for upright neck support. - Its soft cover is washable. **Drawbacks** - You have to blow it up before each use. - Air gives a firmer, bouncier feel than memory foam. That is our inference from the design. **Skip it if** you want a soft, sink-in feel. ### 4. Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow with Eye Mask: best pillow and mask set **Why it made the list** - It was a runner-up in our search for "travel pillow for long flights", from 52 listings. - It is a slow-rising memory foam neck pillow with a soft velvet cover. - It comes with a matching eye mask for sleeping on long trips. **Drawbacks** - The listing carries no brand name, which makes it harder to find the same pillow again later. - It placed in only one of our three searches. **Watch for this:** similar unbranded neck pillows fill Amazon's results under near-identical names. Check the listing for the pink color and the included eye mask. **Skip it if** you prefer to buy from a known brand. ## What we left out, and why Our three searches returned 162 Amazon listings. TwelveTabs shortlisted 30 and read the listing pages of 9 finalists. We kept four and left out two: - **napfun Neck Pillow for Traveling.** A runner-up in two searches, but it is another contoured memory foam neck pillow that repeats what our top two already offer. - **Hikenture Camping Pillow.** A runner-up in our inflatable search. It is shaped like a small bed pillow for camping and gives less support when you are sitting up. **Wirecutter's top pick**, the **Travelrest Nest Ultimate Memory Foam Travel Pillow**, is in our table so you can compare it. Its tall foam walls and flat, angled back sit flush against a headrest, which Wirecutter says sets it apart. It did not reach the shortlist in any of our three searches. Wirecutter's pick for people whose heads drop forward, the Bcozzy, was shortlisted in all three but did not make a final. ## Questions people ask ### What is the best travel pillow for long flights? The [GDEOUP pillow](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-travel-pillows/#pick-2) won our long flights search, with our top pick close behind. For the most support against a headrest, Wirecutter recommends the Travelrest Nest, which is in our table. ### Memory foam or inflatable: which travel pillow is better? Memory foam holds its shape and feels softer, but takes room in your bag. An inflatable, like our Keemall pick, packs small and lets you set the firmness. Pick by how much space you have. ### Can you wash a travel pillow? Most have a removable cover you can wash. All four of our picks list a washable cover. Check the care label before you wash the foam itself. ### How did TwelveTabs choose these travel pillows? We ran three live TwelveTabs searches of Amazon on September 25, 2026, which read the listing pages of 9 finalists, and checked the advice against Wirecutter's travel pillow guide. AI wrote this guide from that research. ## How we researched On September 25, 2026 we ran three live TwelveTabs searches of Amazon: “best travel pillow”, “travel pillow for long flights” and “inflatable travel pillow”. Together they returned 162 listings. TwelveTabs shortlisted 30 of them, read the listing pages of 9 finalists and named a winner and runners-up in each. We kept four pillows that each suit a different trip, and left out a camping pillow and a close twin of our top two. AI wrote this guide from that research. Listings change: we read them on September 25, 2026, and a color, size or seller may differ today. ### Sources - [Wirecutter: The Best Travel Pillows (Wayback Machine snapshot)](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-travel-pillow/)
