A six-dart rotating-drum blaster with slam fire, listed to fire darts up to 90 feet and sold with six official Elite darts. - **The biggest drum of the five, with no batteries:** Nerf Rampage N-Strike Elite Blaster. A hand-powered slam-fire blaster with a drum that holds up to 25 darts, sold with 25 official Elite darts and listed to fire up to 90 feet. - **A motorized blaster styled after a Fortnite weapon:** Nerf Fortnite SMG-E Blaster. A motorized dart blaster styled after a weapon in Fortnite: a throttle button starts the motor, and the title lists a six-dart clip with six Elite darts. - **A four-dart hammer-action blaster with a scope:** Nerf Fortnite SR Blaster. A hammer-action Fortnite blaster that loads four darts and fires one per hammer pull, with a removable scope and eight official Elite darts in the box. - **Three firing modes and attachments:** Nerf Modulus Regulator Blaster. A fully motorized blaster with three firing modes: single, burst and continuous. It comes with two 12-dart clips, 24 Elite darts, two barrel-scopes and a swivel handle. Our top pick is the **[Nerf Disruptor Elite Blaster](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-1)**, a six-dart revolver with slam fire that takes Elite darts. We read 96 organic Amazon listings for "nerf blaster", compared the pages of 10 finalists and kept five that differ in capacity and in how they fire. For the biggest load, see the [Nerf Rampage](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-2), a 25-dart drum that needs no batteries. The [Fortnite SMG-E](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-3) and the [Nerf Modulus Regulator](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-5) are motorized, and the [Fortnite SR](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-4) is a four-dart hammer-action blaster with a scope. Several well-known blasters are not picks, because Amazon showed no new offer for them. ## How to choose a Nerf gun GamesRadar's buying guide covers the details that decide what you can use with a blaster. Here is what to check. - **Which darts it takes.** GamesRadar says the N-Series, launched in 2024, uses bigger N1 darts that do not work in older blasters, and older darts do not work in N-Series blasters. It adds that Rival and Hyper rounds are balls, not darts, and fit only their own lines. All five picks name Elite darts. - **How it fires.** GamesRadar says the strongest blasters are motorized, using batteries to fire faster. Our picks include hand-primed blasters ([Disruptor](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-1), [Rampage](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-2), [Fortnite SR](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-4)) and motorized ones ([SMG-E](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-3), [Modulus](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-5)). - **Capacity.** GamesRadar names a six-dart drum as a drawback in its own top pick, and praises a blaster whose 40-dart clip ends the stops to reload. Our picks hold from 4 darts up to 25 in one drum. - **Age grade.** GamesRadar gives an age for every blaster it covers: 6+ for the Elite Jr. Rookie Pack, 8+ for the N-Series Agility and 14+ for the Pro Gelfire Mythic. It says the Jr. range takes less force to prime and fire. None of our five listings gives an age grade in the listing text we read, so check the product page and the box before you gift one. ## Our picks in detail ### 1. Nerf Disruptor Elite Blaster: best for a simple six-dart revolver **Why it made the list** - The listing names a six-dart rotating drum and slam-fire action, so you can fire all six darts rapidly. - It lists darts flying up to 90 feet (27 meters). - The box holds the blaster, six official Elite darts and instructions. **Drawbacks** - A six-dart drum means frequent reloads next to the 25-dart [Rampage](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-2). - Amazon's own summary lists jamming as a negative and durability as mixed. **Watch for this:** Four listings of this blaster in different colors share one review total. This pick is the multi-color listing, and the figures in the table belong to it. **Skip it if** you want a motor or a big magazine. ### 2. Nerf Rampage N-Strike Elite Blaster: best for the biggest drum and no batteries **Why it made the list** - The drum holds up to 25 darts, and the listing says 25 official Elite darts come with it. - Slam-fire action fires darts as you hold the trigger and slide the handle. - It is hand-powered with no batteries required, and the listing gives a range of up to 90 feet. **Drawbacks** - A critical review says darts always get stuck. - Priming is by hand only, so there is no motor for automatic fire. This is our inference from the listing. **Skip it if** you want a motorized blaster that fires without sliding the handle. ### 3. Nerf Fortnite SMG-E Blaster: best motorized blaster styled after a game weapon **Why it made the list** - The listing says a throttle button starts the motor. - It is styled after a weapon in Fortnite, so a fan of the game will recognize it. - The title lists a six-dart clip with six official Elite darts. **Drawbacks** - The listing text we read has few specs and gives no range or battery figure. - Amazon's own summary lists reliability as mixed, with some saying it stopped working after first use. **Skip it if** you want to compare capacity and range before you buy. ### 4. Nerf Fortnite SR Blaster: best four-dart hammer-action blaster **Why it made the list** - Hammer priming: load four darts, pull the hammer back, then press the trigger to fire one dart. - A scope attaches and removes to help you line up shots. - Eight official Elite darts come in the box. **Drawbacks** - It fires one dart per prime, which makes it the slowest of the five to fire and to reload. - Amazon's own summary lists shooting performance and ease of use as mixed. **Skip it if** you want rapid fire. ### 5. Nerf Modulus Regulator Blaster: best for three firing modes **Why it made the list** - Switchfire technology gives three modes: single-fire, burst-fire and continuous-fire. - It is fully motorized and comes with two 12-dart clips and 24 Elite darts. - Two attachable barrel-scopes and a swivel handle come with it, and the stock holds a spare clip. **Drawbacks** - It needs four C batteries, which are not included. - Amazon's own summary lists reliability as mixed, with some saying it works about a third of the time. **Watch for this:** Nerf sells several blasters in this line. This listing is the Regulator. **Skip it if** you do not want to buy batteries. ## What we left out, and why Of the 96 organic listings we read, ten had their pages read in full and five became picks. Dart refills, dog toys and other accessories were dropped first. Each finalist we left out has a reason a shopper can check. - **Nerf Elite 2.0 Commander RD-6.** The page said "Currently unavailable", so there is no new offer to buy - **Fortnite AR-L.** The page offered only "See All Buying Options" and showed no price for a new one - **X-Shot Insanity Motorized Rage Fire.** Same: only "See All Buying Options" and no price - **Nerf Pro Gelfire Mythic.** Same, and it fires gel rounds rather than darts. Its listing says "Ages 14 and up" - **Nerf HyperFire.** Its feature bullets are generic Nerf brand text about other lines, so we had no listing facts about this blaster to write a pick from Wirecutter was not read for this guide, so there is no Wirecutter pick in the comparison table. ## Questions people ask ### Do N1 darts fit these blasters? GamesRadar says the N-Series, launched in 2024, uses N1 darts that are bigger than Elite darts, more accurate and not usable in older blasters, and the reverse is also true. All five picks name Elite darts, so check which darts a blaster takes before you buy refills. ### Do Nerf guns need batteries? Not all of them. The [Rampage](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-2) is hand-powered and the listing says no batteries are required. The [SMG-E](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-3) and the [Modulus Regulator](https://twelvetabs.com/reviews/best-nerf-guns/#pick-5) are motorized, and the Regulator listing names four C batteries, not included. ### What age is a Nerf gun for? It depends on the blaster, and GamesRadar's examples run from 6+ to 14+. Our five listings name no age grade in the text we read, so check the product page and the box. ### How did TwelveTabs choose these Nerf guns? We compared the Amazon results for one search phrase, set aside sponsored repeats, refills, dog toys and listings with no new offer, and read each finalist's page for its capacity and how it fires. Each pick is a blaster a shopper can buy new today, matched to a different need. ## How we researched On October 1, 2026 we read 96 organic Amazon listings for "nerf blaster" across two pages of results. AI compared them, set aside sponsored repeats, dart refills, dog toys and other accessories, read the pages of 10 finalists and chose five dart blasters that differ in capacity and in how they fire. AI wrote this guide from that research. Listings change: we read them on October 1, 2026, and a color, bundle, seller or stock may differ today. Specs are the listing text as we read it, which our reading tool cut to about 200 characters per bullet, so a feature such as an age grade may exist even where that text does not name it. Several well-known blasters could not be picks because Amazon showed no new offer for them that day. ### Sources - [GamesRadar: Best Nerf blasters](https://www.gamesradar.com/best-nerf-guns/)
